PALACE OF PURIFICATION

Palace of Purification is a video manifesto for filth, presented by a beloved denizen of Jigsaw, an anarchist social centre in Dublin (which closed in 2021).
We are a group of visual artists, makers, musicians and coders who have recently come together to create collaborative work. Although we come from different disciplines -encompassing film, sound, conceptual art, design, experimental music, and digital art- we are united as a group by shared experiences of squalors; those broken buildings in the city that are unloved and unused by a majority with normative hygiene standards. Based across Dublin and Limerick, much of our collaboration has taken place remotely. Working within COVID-19 restrictions, we became interested in the void of viscerality that has formed out of our new hyper-hygienic, sterile lifestyles.
